Short, no puff
Before you start
If it comes out as p, put their hand on your throat and let them feel the buzz.
Press your lips together, just like for p.
Hand on the throat. Hum with the lips closed: it buzzes.
Now open the lips with the voice on: b, b, b. Softer than p, with no puff.
One
4 steps. Listen to them, or use the arrows to go at your own pace.
The lips close
They come together and block the way, just like M and P.
The soft palate closes the nose
The air builds up behind the lips.
And they open at once
The air comes out in a short burst. You can't hold it.
With the throat buzzing
That buzz is what separates B from P.
Two
The same mouth, syllable by syllable and up close: this is the model they'll copy in the mirror.
The camera shows their mouth next to the video. Nothing is recorded or saved: it only shows, like a mirror.
Ten of each
